Here P stands for Print. While accessing a document, or browsing a page, CTRL P will open up the Print Settings Window. Even while browsing images, you can use CTRL + P to print them.

Whether you are accessing any document, folder, or application, CTRL W will close it. However, in a web browser, it will close the current Tab, not the entire window.
